This may come as a surprise for people who have used other brand pod coffee makers and gotten used to buying compatible pods cheap from the likes of Aldi and Lidl. You can however buy reusable Tassimo pods and fill them with your favourite coffee. You can use any t-disc in any Tassimo coffee maker, as all pods work in any of the home Tassimo machines, they all make the same drinks.

However, you cannot use the pods from a commercial Tassimo machine in a domestic coffee maker, they are not compatible. Starbucks stopping making pods for Tassimo machines several years ago and only make pods for Nespresso coffee machines at the moment. Tassimo pods only work with Tassimo machines or coffee makers, so you cannot use them in Nespresso coffee makers.

You would have to use Nespresso pods or capsules instead. A Tassimo pod will not work in a Dolce Gusto coffee machine, it is the wrong shape and size to fit and if you forced it in, it would likely break your nice Dolce Gusto coffee maker.

You need to use Dolce Gusto capsules, or Dolce Gusto compatible pods with your coffee maker. Technically, you could wash out the remaining coffee grounds from inside the pod, refill it with fresh coffee, seal the hole and use the coffee pod more than once. Be warned, there is a very good chance that the pod will explode under pressure when used and you could damage your coffee machine. So this is definitely not recommended. Coffee pods should not be put in your recycling bin as they are made from materials which cannot be recycled.

Tassimo and other brands do have schemes where they have collection services and drop off points so you can recycle as much as possible of each and every pod. Some local councils also have schemes which offer recycling of coffee pods, so please check with your council for more information.

Depending on which pods you use, most t-discs have a shelf life of between 9 and 12 months, if unopened. If you have opened the packaging, you should use within 6 weeks.
